Mihaela Pintea is the first Dunstan Baby Language trainer in Romania. So, starting with 2011 the new born and babies crying has officially become, also in Romania, a subject of an aware parenting relationship between parents and babies. From now on crying is going to be approached from a qualitative perspective. Dunstan Baby Language comes to strengthen all the information, and the expertise of all specialists in carrying for the new born babies, pointing out that the signals transmitted by a new born and babies up to 4 months are not random and there exists a connection between the types of sounds/cries and the babies needs.  
By involving Mihaela Pintea in this project, as well as of the entire multidisciplinary team, it is reconfirmed the existence of a pre-verbal language used by the new born and babies, language that will be more and more accessible to parents at the end of this project.
 

Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ETTI) from University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB)

Having a tradition of over 190 years, the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology from University Politehnica of Bucharest is the oldest and most prestigious engineering school from Romania. The classification made by Romanian Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport in autumn 2011, ranks this institution on the first place in Romania among other institutions of the same profile. UPB will be involved in this project through the Speech and Dialogue Laboratory (SpeeD – speed.pub.ro), a research laboratory within the Faculty of ETTI. SpeeD staff is currently composed of 5 full-time academic members and several PhD and master students. SpeeD is concerned with research in all areas of spoken language technology, including speech and speaker recognition, text-to-speech synthesis, speech signal processing, natural language processing, and human-computer interaction.

The Emergency Clinical Hospital "Sf. Pantelimon"

It has multiple specializations and research activities, developed in several fields. Partner 2 has a level 3 maternity (maximum standard in Romania) with a neonatal intensive care unit. Partner 2 has a long tradition in scientific research activity. Its activity started since the foundation of the hospital in 1972 by involving all categories of health care professionals, especially doctors who were also involved in university teaching activities. The team from “Sf. Pantelimon” Hospital involved in the SPLANN project has 8 members: 3 Pediatrician-Neonatologists, 4 Obstetricians with perinatal experience and 1 nursing specialist.
